{"id":416,"date":"2010-12-07T19:14:26","date_gmt":"2010-12-07T19:14:26","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/idostuff.co.uk\/blogs\/?p=416"},"modified":"2010-12-20T12:01:17","modified_gmt":"2010-12-20T12:01:17","slug":"woodburning-stove-proving-its-self","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/idostuff.co.uk\/blogs\/2010\/woodburning-stove-proving-its-self\/","title":{"rendered":"Woodburning Stove, proving its self"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>It&#8217;s a while since I wrote about our experience with our wood burning stove.\u00a0 It seems topical at the moment as our normally moderate winter has taken an unexpected arctic turn.\u00a0 Last night we went below minus 10 and for the first time in ages\u00a0we got ice on the inside of our windows.<\/p>\n<p>However during the day the 8kw wood burning stove is keeping us warm enough and stopping the\u00a0gas central heating from switching on.\u00a0 First thing in the morning the heating does come on but that&#8217;s down to us not wanting to get up early in a cold house.<\/p>\n<p>So it&#8217;s doing what we want but it&#8217;s taking a lot of fuel. It won&#8217;t help that at moment most of what we are burning is larch, hardwoods would be more efficient.\u00a0 Having said that it is &#8220;free&#8221; wood if I don&#8217;t count the felling, cutting and splitting, transporting and stacking\u00a0that I have to do.<\/p>\n<p>With the two feet of snow we&#8217;ve had, It was quite job refilling the stack by the back door from the big stock in my storage area.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_417\" style=\"width: 510px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a onclick=\"javascript:pageTracker._trackPageview('\/downloads\/blogs\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/12\/log-pile-in-snow.jpg');\"  href=\"https:\/\/idostuff.co.uk\/blogs\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/12\/log-pile-in-snow.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-417\" class=\"size-full wp-image-417 \" title=\"log pile in snow\" src=\"https:\/\/idostuff.co.uk\/blogs\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/12\/log-pile-in-snow.jpg\" alt=\"Log pile, larch in the snow\" width=\"500\" height=\"332\" srcset=\"https:\/\/idostuff.co.uk\/blogs\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/12\/log-pile-in-snow.jpg 500w, https:\/\/idostuff.co.uk\/blogs\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/12\/log-pile-in-snow-300x199.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 500px) 100vw, 500px\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-417\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">digging through to the log pile, stove fuel<\/p><\/div>\n<p>We&#8217;re still of the opinion &#8220;it&#8217;s worth it&#8221; .
